I think he has a lot of good points. What he says is true. How can one expect to be listened to if one can't even speak their native tongue coherently!
I related this to my own experiences and can say that this speech would be relevant here in Australia as well. Not for our Aboriginal peoples, but for the whole country in general. For all the cultures that live here!

Agreed. He's right. As much as it's dangerous to say it when you're white I have to agree with his point. It's quite easy to see that blacks can do well if they want to - Cosby himself is an example of that. And you don't see him talking the crappy language you hear on too many hip hop records these days.

He has some points, though I fail to respect someone using gross generalizations to his advandage, and at the same time condemning them

That's cause it's 2 months old. Summary: Bill Cosby had a little public rant about if black people want to be respected, they shouldn't adopt the Pimp/Getto Rapper lifestyle, and get some education. The world doesn't care how many bitches you've got, or how tough your piece is, it wants you to get a job and work, not act like you're the man.

Well I don't know what he said exactly but in the context you put it Az, it sure seems sound to me ...

Bill Cosby got in trouble for saying this, because he's been selling Pudding Pops for 40 years and everyone forget he's from the ghetto and might say something real from time to time.

Well, from Az's paraphrasing, I'd have to surmise that Cosby hit the nail right on the head. I don't think it goes for just blacks though, because today, there are just as many white, Chinese, and other races that display such moronic behavior. I'd have to say its more annoying than damgeful, though, because the only people they are hurting are themselves...

Agreed BOH, but people who put themselves in the position of not having the education or the desire to contribute to society and carry their own weight do hurt more than just themselves.
Some people legitimately cannot find work and cannot support themselves, but to create a sub-culture celebrating that life-style is harmful to all of us.
