As a few of you will know, but most of you won't, my computer was stolen in June.
It was a brand-new laptop bought in February. On it I had everything I've ever written. I will never get it back. Along with it was my poetry book in which I have all my poetry. All the things that have not yet been posted online are lost to me. Many many pages of hard work. Gone. This has been a devastating blow for me and I've been very down for the past two months.
Practically it has meant that I had no access to the internet, because I had no comp to access it with. The stress factors of moving to a new place, having absolutely no money, no computer, no nothing have taken their toll. I'm not even gonna get into how many kilos I've gained over the course of a few measly months. It's scary. A pair of pants I tried 1½ months ago, I can no longer fit now.
And that's not helping with the depression.
Anyhow. A new computer should be arriving soon, and I'll be getting back in the routine with writing and such. Hopefully that'll get things rolling on here as well.
There, just to keep y'all updated.

I hope so.
I think I deserve a little bit of that by now.

Alas. Not much in the luck department.
My computer has arrived. It's a neat thing. Except for the fact that none of the drivers seem to be compatible with the OS I've installed. And even trying to install the driver that is compatible with the OS it claims to not be compatble with the hardware. ARGH! dunno what I did to deserve this, but it must have been bad.

Let me guess. You got Vista?

No, of course not. I got XP Pro 64 bit, because the normal 32 bit wouldn't be able to fully utilize the spiffy new hardware in this comp. However, the manufacturer of the hardware parts don't support XP x64 in terms of drivers, which they had conveniently forgotten to point out anywhere. How was I to know that while they support Vista 64 they don't support XP 64? Bah!
So now I *have* to get Vista, because that's the only OS that can utilize my nifty hardware *and* is supported by the comp manufacturer's driver department.
So yeah... I'm getting Vista. As much as I don't want to, I have to. But then everything should work. I'm sending the XP back to the seller, and I have just ordered Vista Business.
Mang, I'm tired of this. I thought technology was there to mae our lives easier...

Arrrgh . Technology is there to make our lives easier in name, but actually much more complicated and annoying . . . and giving money to the companies .. ..

Once you get it all to work it's easy as pie, but the slightest hiccup gives you a headache.

Don't I know it. I received Vista today. So next time I turn the comp off I'll be turning it back on to install the second OS in one week. Urgh. I know what I'll be spending my Friday night with...

Hey Jem! I'm glad to know your back, but very disheartened to hear the story of your absence. I hope things start to look up for you. Hope to hear from you lots, and soon!

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. You have written so much and it's just terrible. I wish there was something I could do. I hope at least the new computer has gotten straightened out.
