M1: When she first told me the news.
She is out of her mind
But not out of mine
The risk she is taking
Is all but fine
She’s playing a game
Does she know the stakes?
Gambling with others
Is a liberty she takes
I should not condemn her
Though I feel that I must
But how can I do it
Without betraying her trust?
She lets me gaze
Into her heart and her soul
And she thinks that she’s found
The path to her goal
I must disagree
I believe it will fail
But she finds no support
So she has turned tail
And now this decision
To make it all right
It worries me greatly
All day and night
The decision I know
Will alter her life
Likely for the worse
It may double her strife
I cannot agree
With taking that chance
Spite of the joy
In her current romance
That risk should have been
Left at the thought
Of the grief it might bring
Indeed has now brought
Troubles are plenty
Life is damn tough
But bearing a kid
Is doubly rough
Having a child
Will not solve a thing
And I think she’s grasped
How much it might sting
I will not tell her
How her life should be led
But I fear that she’s rapid-
ly burning her bed
I will support her
Through these hardest of times
And I hope she’ll do better
Than I foresee in my mind

M2: When the consequences struck
Saying "I knew it!"
Is a terrible thing
But that is the litany
I can now sing
I expected the break and
anticipated grief
How I was the only one
is beyond my belief
His reaction was clear
I'd expected the worst
He backed out in fear
as if that's a first.
She didn't expect it
she'd thought he was cool
but unlike her view it
was she who's the fool
Discussing things vaguely
will not bring a solution
and in this situation
it brough mere confusion
She, filled with hope, had
heard what he said
but the words sounded different
inside her head
To her her question of "If?"
He'd answered "Okay..."
But she had meant "When?"
And heard: "One of these days."
So she made her decision
without his awareness
Never have I seen
anything so careless
She was blinded by ideals
her hopes and her dreams
and when he backed out
life unravelled its seams
What was he to do?
What would I've done rather?
He hadn't expected
to become a father
She happily announced
that she was expecting
but he in his shock
thought of defecting
And so he did
and left her behind
not quite the result
she'd seen in her mind
Children won't strengthen
or help a romance
and this pair of twins
were not given a chance
She had an abortion
she'd no chance to give
cause with them in her life
neither would live.
She is out of her mind
