I was watching the snow drift in a field behind my house a few days ago and got inspired to write something. It's a drabble, which is a piece of writing that has exactly 100 words, and is supposed to describe a story rather than tell it. It's the first time I've written anything outside of school in several years, so I don't know how good it is... ------------------------------------------------------------------- Snow A tiny figure on an endless windswept plain. A speck of blackness in a sea of white. Ever shifting drifts of snow move over and around the lone object, coming inexorably closer to covering it completely. Blowing snow whips itself into a violent frenzy, blanketing all in pure white, fraying the line between earth and sky. Suddenly, the air is clear, and all but the slightest trace of the alien apparition has disappeared. Barely visible among the flurrying powder, almost the same shade of white as the snow which surrounds it, a hand, lifeless and cold, waits to fade away. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I'm thinking about turning it into a short story one of these days... maybe.

Definitely a good opening paragraph, Owl. You do a great job of describing the setting and establishing the mood and tone. Of course, I have no idea where it is going (the story I mean) but good job, nonetheless!
