oh yes, if you want the background of the game I suggest you read some of H.P. Lovecraft's stories. www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/You can find all of them there. Those that are most telling as to what you'll be doing are The Dunwich Horror and The Shadow over Innsmouth. Possibly the novellette At the Mountains of Madness (beware - that one is long) might interest you as well, though it starts out very dryly. Other works I can recommend are: The Case of Charles Dexter Ward and the Lurking Fear. This should give you a pretty good impression of the setting. All these stories take place somewhere inbetween 1900 and 1935. Right now I run games in a Present Day setting - mostly because it's easier for people to settle into a setting they know - with mobile phones and all, instead of living in an era when the Ford T is the most common model and not everyone has even a landline phone. Enjoy Be scared

Hmm ... I read the Dunwich horror (not all though, the white letters made me dizzy) and I think it is a bit too morbid for my style ... I'd better start on-line campaigning (if I do eventually) with something I already know (classic D&D) and on a little less dark setting ...

Nah, Blade...it'll be fun!! Really. Truly. Honestly. I used to play Cthulhu back in the day, and it was rather enjoyable. Every once in awhile, it's a refreshing change to escape the world of elves and wizards. So when do we start?

My, my ... somehow this sounds too reasuring to be true ... :=P Seriously, I'd better watch one game first, like Billy, before I start playing ... you wouldn't want me to freak out in mid-playing and you having to find a new player ... right ?

*sneaks up behind Blade*
BOO!
That scary enough for ya?
Unfortunately there's not enough at the moment in the way of gameplay for us to get an idea of how it is played. There's the veggie one but there's only a handfull of posts. It could take years before you get an idea from that one!

Well, martin you'll have to do better than that ... wearing a mask might help a bit ... :=P
As for the Veggie campaign you are right, but it is not in my hands ... so I'll just wait ...

I will endeavor to avoid it being years Things should start moving there within the next few days. Gods, I'm looking forward to getting it started again. Blade, it *is* a somewhat macabre game. It's not called Horror Role-Playing for nothing In my games it'll mostly be about investigating a mysterious event, but in writing it'll hardly be too horrid. Mostly because you get a 10 minute dose of it and then take a break before next time you see a new post there. Unlike a complete game session over a table The regular sessions in my Call group are great fun and we don't usually get much of the true horror feeling. Happened 2 weeks ago though, where it took me over 2 hours to fall asleep after our game session. It had been really really creepy. But we'd played by candle light, hadn't told a single joke or anecdote, and we'd simpyl gotten into it 110% and we'd been soooo freaked all of us - it was awesome But it likely won't happen again, since I doubt anyone can ever match *that* gaming experience. Games on here will mostly just be fun, an exciting storyline (if I do my job right), and the intriguing experience of 'co-writing' a story so to speak. How scary it'll be is first and foremost up to me naturally, but I can only provide the tools for your own imaginations - so in the end it's the players who decide exactly how scary things are. For those who are interested: I'm gonna open Rest Stops up again, and since only one(maybe 2) of the original players who were intended to play in it have been seen lately there are 3-5 open places there. Toth can be called in, since I'm in touch with him quite often, and DDH may still be interested - but I get the feeling he's not online all that much these days. I'll find out. I'll come back with more info asap - right now it's 2.30 AM so I'll start out with sleeping on it
